LG Elections 2024: Essien Udim Young Leaders Endorse Aluko’s Second Term Bid
Youths of Essien Udim, under the auspices of the Young Leaders Association of Essien Udim, have endorsed the second term bid of the Transition Chairman, Dr. Anthony Luke. This endorsement was detailed in a communiqué released at a recent meeting of the association and signed by the secretary general of the association, Mr Anietie Jonah Umoh, Chairman of All Coordinators, Akaninyene Obot and all the ward coordinators of Young Leaders Association across the Local Government Area and endorsed
Established in 2014 with membership from all the wards in Essien Udim, the Young Leaders Association has consistently been at the forefront of grassroots youth mobilization in Essien Udim.
The youths described Dr. Luke’s administration as the most youth-friendly in Essien Udim’s history, acknowledging numerous initiatives that have empowered young people during his tenure as both executive and caretaker chairman.
The communiqué further explained that Dr. Luke’s administration has engaged approximately 12 youths as his personal aides and over 60 youths to help tackle insecurity in the area, providing them with monthly stipends.
They maintained that the administration’s numerous physical infrastructural projects such as the remodeling and reconstruction of the Essien Udim Divisional Police Headquarters vandalized by hoodlums in 2021, the construction of 100 market stalls at Urua Akpan and the magnificent Multi-purpose Traditional Rulers Council Complex initiated, constructed and completed by the Dr. Luke’s administration testament to his transformational stride in the area.
The Young Leaders acknowledged Dr. Luke’s contributions to education through the payment of bursaries to Essien Udim students studying at various tertiary institutions worldwide also noting that his administration has empowered several women especially pregnant, women, nursing mothers and widows in Essien Udim.
The group called on Dr. Luke to promptly declare his interest and intentions to run for a second term as executive chairman in the forthcoming local government elections. They insisted that he deserves a second term to consolidate and continue his good works and sustain peace in Essien Udim.
The Young Leaders pledged their unalloyed support to Dr. Luke’s second term bid and promised to embark on massive mobilization efforts to rally all Essien Udim people both youths and elders to support Dr. Luke’s candidacy.
