‘An Evening with Legends of Journalism Profession’ to spice up 2020 NUJ Press Week
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Chapter has introduced a new package tagged ‘An Evening with Legends of Journalism Profession’ as one of the historic activities to watch out for at the 2020 Press Wee
The Chairman of the 2020 Press Week Planning Committee, Comrade Nsibiet John, disclosed this to newsmen at the end of the second meeting of the committee held at the NUJ Press Centre, Information Drive, along IBB Avenue, Uyo.
According to the Committee Chairman, the one-day event will be a convocation of legends of Journalism profession who will brainstorm on topical issues and share their philosophies and experiences in journalism.
This interactive session will also have the new generation journalists sit at the feet of the legends to draw words of wisdom and life as well as allow for cross-fertilisation of ideas.
Amongst legends of journalism profession considered are: The Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Moses Ekpo MFR; former Editor-in-Chief of Newswatch Magazine, Ray Ekpu; Political Leader of Oro Nation, Ikpoto Okon Osung; former Director of Information, Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Information, Comfort Umanah and the Chairman of Akwa United Football Club, Elder Paul Bassey.
The innovation, which is the brainchild of the current Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Akwa Ibom State Council, Comrade Among Etuk, is predicated on honouring the living Legends of Journalism Precession, especially those from Akwa Ibom State beginning from the fourth coming NUJ Press Week.
The NUJ 2020 Press Week which commences on 6th December, 2020 through 11th December, 2020 has as its the theme: “Media, Capacity Development and Nation Building in a Covid-19 Era.”
