INEC declares Senator Prince Bassey Otu Cross River State Governor-Elect
Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has been declared winner of the Cross River State governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in the Saturday, March 18th governorship election which took place simultaneously across the nation.
Declaring the result on Monday at the state Collation Centre, INEC, Cross River State Office, Calabar, the returning officer for the governorship election, Prof. Teddy Charles Adias, Vice Chancellor of Atoke University, Bayelsa State.
Says, Senator Bassey Edet Otu having pulled the required maximum votes cast of 258,619 votes out of 1,766,466 registered voters is hereby declared the elected governor of Cross River State while Senator Prof. Sandy Ojang Onor of the People Democratic Party, PDP scored a total of 179,636 to become second in the race.
The collation exercise was witnessed by the state security officers of the state, the Police, the DSS, the Army, the National Drugs Law and Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, the EU Elections Monitoring team, the African Election Monitoring team, the media and many others.
