Ikot-Ekpene Council Chairman keys into Gov Umo Eno’s “Back to Farm” initiative
The BACK TO FARM INITIATIVE of the Umo Eno led administration has found some good expression in the Raffia City of Ikot-Ekpene. This follows the acquisition of 6 hectares of land by the Transition Committee in Ikot-Ekpene, headed by the Council Chairman, Sir. John Cleton Etim for food production.
The massive land which is a joint partnership between the Ikot-Ekpene Local Government Council and Senator Emmanuel IbokEssien of Ritman Farms, was acquired over the week.
Reacting, Chairman of the Council, Sir. Etim in a chat with newsmen explained that the decision by the Council to venture into agriculture, was to compliment the back to farm initiative of the State government as encapsulated in the ARISE AGENDA of Pastor Umo Eno.
He further hinted that the farm was acquired in thrust for the 12 wards in Ikot-Ekpene, adding that any individual or group of persons in the area who desires to venture into agriculture and food production, but is constraint by non-availability of land, would be given a portion of land at the 6hectare farmland to cultivate.
This he noted was a conscious effort by his administration to boost food production, food availability and food security in Ikot-Ekpene.
