Idongesit Ntekpere: The man who came, saw and delivered
He bows out in high spirits with his head held high. He went, saw and delivered nothing short of an excellent representation.
It is safe to say that the people of Ikot Ekpene State Constituency could not have wished for someone other than him. Debonair, calculative and thorough in his approach to handling issues, Rt. Hon. Idongesit Ntekpere acquitted himself well in the 7th Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.
Apart from his core legislative engagements, he knew he went there on the mandate of the people. And so to them, he owed loyalty to the letter. One wonders very little then that he often gave a listening ear to his constituents. He was there for them, attending to their needs as much as he could.
This no doubt endeared him to his people. His empowerment schemes were life touching and memorable. It touched people of all strata of the society. Men, women, youths etc. Rt. Hon. Ntekpere displayed uncanny wizardry at the just ended 7th assembly.
His intellectual contributions to debates, sponsored bills and principled stance on issues of development stood him out as one lawmaker that distinguished himself no matter the barometer of judgement. He was always audacious to speak the truth no matter who ox is gored. This earned him the moniker,” yak ntang mkpa” by his colleagues in the 6th and 7th Assembly.
Today, he steps aside having provided effective, inspirational and people-centric representation. In him, Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara nay Akwa Ibom has a man of character and uncommon leadership acumen.
To him, the future looks even brighter despite not hitting the green chamber target. Failure to him isn’t in the falling, but remaining there stoutly. He has moved on, and looks into the future with great optimism, with a heart burning with undiluted desire to offer service wherever and whenever it is needed, so long as that service will be to the benefit of the people and the state at large.
To a man whose representational dexterity changed the narrative in legislative business for the good people of Ikot Ekpene State Constituency, tomorrow brims with illuminating light and hope.
Ride on, sir. Take a bow. You deserve all the epaulettes and encomiums coming your way.
