The administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel is leaving no stone unturned in its bid to ensure that the construction of Ibom Deep Seaport kick-starts as soon as possible.
Ahead of planned groundbreaking of the seaport project, the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Works and Fire Service, Prof. Eno Ibanga, accompanied by Commissioner for Environment and Solid Minerals, Sir Charles Udoh and his colleague in charge of Culture and Tourism, Rt. Hon. Oman Esin, yesterday, Tuesday, 13th April, 2021 carried out inspection of road projects in Oron Local Government Area and Environs.
The team, which also had the Director of Civil, Ministry of Works and Fire Service, Engr. Akaninyene Henry, a youth leader in Oro nation, Ulap Asuquo Okon Enweme (Leville), amongst others, also made geographical assessment of the area in a bid to explore the possibility of creating another access road from Orukim area of Mbo Local Government directly to the Deep Seaport, to ease vehicular movements to and from the seaport from that axis.
Various road projects were also inspected at Oron, Mbo and Urung Uko Local Government Areas by the government officials to ascertain the progress of work.
While addressing the contractors, the Works and Fire Service Commissioner, Prof. Eno Ibanga said that he was satisfied with the progress made between the period of his last visit to the area, one month ago and now. He charged the various contractors to intensify their efforts in order to meet set targets.While addressing youths at Orukim in Mbo Local Government Area, the Commissioners unanimously urged the youth to position themselves for the bountiful economic benefits that is anticipated through Ibom Deep Seaport, asserting that their efforts at maintaining peace, and cooperation with the state government will guarantee maximum benefits for the area from the seaport project.
Notably, the Commissioner for Works and Fire Service, Prof. Eno Ibanga has in recent times, been on the vanguard of fostering inter-agency collaborations with his colleagues who are heading various ministries, departments, and agencies of government, for the purpose of smooth and effective delivery of the completion agenda of Governor Udom Emmanuel led administration.
