IADCL boss lauds Governor Umo Eno over people-oriented policies, Aviation Development
The Chairman, Board of Directors, Ibom Airport Development Company Limited, Dr Iniobong Ene Essien has commended the state Governor, Pastor Umo Eno for implementing people-oriented and life-touching policies describing him as a blessing to the state.
The former Commissioner for Environment who stated this while interacting with newsmen in Uyo recently also lauded the governor for coming through for the people in hard times due to high rate of inflation and global economic downturn.
While praising Governor Umo Eno’s administration for launching the Bulk Purchase programme to ensure food security and availability for the people, he also commended him for prioritizing the welfare of the people.
According to IADCL boss, the governor has also done well in the aviation sector by maintaining the existing facilities at the Victor Attah International Airport and also supporting Ibom Air which he described as the pride of Akwa Ibom.
He urged the governor to focus his administration’s attention on the development of the Cargo component of the Airport to promote commerce and enhance socio-economic development of the state as encapsulated in his administration’s ARISE Agenda adding that the Airport has 3 major components the passenger service, the MRO and the Cargo Service.
“The cargo components has not been touched at all. So, I believe that our governor, though being a pastor, he is also a businessman so I am certain that the cargo component will be developed in his own time.
So, I’ll suggest to the governor in addition to maintaining the already established facilities to also focus attention on the cargo components of the airport for the economic boom of the State.
” I can imagine having a cargo service at the airport whereby people who import goods for example from Dubai can receive them directly here in Uyo instead of going to Lagos,” he stated.
He stressed that the cargo terminal will promote export and import of goods and service while assuring that the international run-way terminal and the MRO will soon be ready and put to use.
On the recent defection of some members of other opposition parties to PDP, Essien noted that the action was possible because of Governor Umo Eno’s impactful administration and achievements in office and his continuous call for peace, harmony and love among the people of the state.
“Governor Umo Eno’s peaceful disposition in the past 9 months is what triggered the reaction you are seeing. Remember the saying in pigin ‘follow who know road’.
“It is also a response to the clarion call by the governor who has been waving the olive branch calling on every Akwa Ibomites to join hands with him to build Akwa Ibom of our dreams.
” I’m also aware that there are other bigwigs of other political parties and great sons of Akwa Ibom who may not need to come to Ibom Hall to declare for the PDP but are solidly behind the governor to develop the state.
“We don’t have any other state. You may visit Lagos. You may visit Abuja but this is our home,” he remarked
