Hon. Asuquo Goes Above and Beyond to Empower Over 70 Cocoa Farmers Through Shared Dividends
The former lawmaker in the House Representative, who represented the good people of Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency in the 9th Assembly, Rt. Hon. Daniel Asuquo has gone above and beyond to launch a pioneering initiative by engaging over 70 farmers who worked at his Cocoa Farm, known as Doveline Farm, located in Ekpri Ibami – Akamkpa Local Government Area.
Through this initiative, Asuquo aims to create employment opportunities, foster economic empowerment, and provide individuals with a conducive environment to pursue their goals.
Asuquo, who previously represented the Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, underlines the significance of collaboration and partnership in both national and state development.
He believes that stakeholders play a vital role in supporting government efforts to provide meaningful employment, challenging the traditional practice of handing out resources to political associates.
Asuquo states, “The growth and development of the nation and the state should not rely solely on the government” Rt. Hon. Asuquo stressed
Hon. Asuquo said he always strives to advocate for empowering and teaching his people how to fish, instead of providing them with already catched fishes.
“I have always advocated for teaching my people how to catch fish rather than giving them fish to eat. Through our businesses, particularly Doveline Ltd, we have formed a partnership with the people through the shared dividend approach.”
This innovative approach has garnered praise from various quarters. Asuquo highlights the drawbacks of relying on handouts, which places undue pressure on government officials.
He underscores the need for sustainable solutions, stating that, “The pressure to attend to the demands of all the requests that come to a public office holder is enormous.”
Through the shared dividends approach, workers on Asuquo’s farm will experience a significant increase in profit and take-home pay within one quarter, surpassing the annual earnings of traditional paid labour.
This model seeks to instill value and commitment in the workforce, allowing them to plan and execute their business prospects with ease.
In their response to this initiative, individuals such as Mr. Mbeh David, Asuquo Okon, Udowong Edet, and others have expressed their gratitude, commending the politician-turned-businessman for his straightforwardness and consideration, particularly, as he thinks about the poor.
They believe that this gesture will empower them to pursue their desired business endeavours more effectively.
Asuquo’s initiative is a testament to his dedication to the welfare and economic advancement of the people he represents. By providing employment opportunities and fostering economic empowerment, he is changing the narrative and empowering individuals to create their success.
This forward-thinking approach serves as an inspiration for other policymakers and business leaders to prioritize sustainable solutions for economic growth and development.
The shared dividend approach not only benefits the individuals directly involved, but also contributes to the overall socio-economic development of the local community and the nation as a whole.
It creates a ripple effect, stimulating economic growth, reducing poverty, and enhancing the standard of living.
Asuquo’s initiative serves as a model for how public officials and business leaders can collaborate to bring about lasting change. By shifting the focus from handouts to empowerment, he is providing individuals with the tools and resources they need to succeed independently.
Similarly, this initiative showcases the potential of the agricultural sector to drive economic growth and employment opportunities. Asuquo’s Cocoa Farm is not only a source of income but also a platform for individuals to gain valuable skills and experience in the agricultural industry.
Asuquo’s groundbreaking initiative is a shining example of how collaboration and shared dividends can transform communities and empower individuals to achieve their goals.
It serves as a reminder that sustainable solutions are essential for long-term economic development and should be prioritized by policymakers and business leaders alike.
Meanwhile, Hon. Daniel Asoquo’s vision is to empower his people through Agricultural value chain to ensure they create wealth for themselves, and reduce povertyHe also aimed at pursuing the largest Cocoa estate in Africa after his disengagement in active politics.
