Federal Polytechnic Ukana: Presidential Visitation Panel solicits cooperation of management, stakeholders
The chairman Visitation Panel Federal Polytechnic, Ukana Prof. A.T Abdullahi has called for cooperation between the Management of the Polytechnic, host community and stake holders to enable the Panel complete its job successfully and on record time.
This statement was made during a parley between the Panel and the Management of the Polytechnic at the Annex campus of the institution host to the Visitation.
The Chairman of the panel said that the panel was appointed by the President Muhammadu Buhari to review the activities of the polytechnic between 2014 to 2020, examine the relationship between institutions and various statutory bodies it interacts with among other things.
Prof Abdullahi said the essence of the panel was not witch hunt or criticise anyone but rather to make objective examination of the Polytechnic with a view to making recommendations to the Federal government.
According to him, the panel shall interact with the various stakeholders of the Federal Polytechnic, Ukana with a view to getting first hand information and inputs.
He stated that part of their assignment is to Investigate the application of funds, particularly the special grants and loans meant for particular projects in order to determine the status of such projects and their relevance for further funding.
Responding, the Rector Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, Dr. Uduak S. Ukekpe stated that the Polytechnic had since its inception enjoyed a good relationship with the host community and that the relationship between the management,staff and students have been exceptionally cordial and peaceful which is evident by the level of succes achieved in a short space of time.
He assured the Panel that the Polytechnic will give the panel the needed cooperation and support in actualization of its assigned task. He expressed optimism the with the heralding of the Panel, the polytechnic shall achieve its dream of ensuring that modifications are made in all academic programmes and policies in order to achieve maximum academic productivity and excellence.
The Panel later embarked on inspection of facilities at both the main and Annex campuses of the polytechnic.
It could be recalled that President Muhamadu Buhari had recently empaneled and inaugurated Visitation Panels for all Federal Polytechnics in Nigeria.
