Federal Polytechnic, Ukana commends host community for harmonious working relationship
…as Royal fathers hail newly appointed governing council
The Chairman, Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic in Ukana, Essien Udim local government area, Chief Yemi Sanusi has commended the host community of the polytechnic for being a good host to the institution.
He stated this while playing host to royal fathers from Ukana West, the host Community of the Polytechnic. During the meeting, the Chairman of the Governing Council stated that he and his members were pleased to meet with the native authorities where the institution they are assigned to look after is located.
“We cannot come for our council meeting and leave without giving honour to whom honour is due, hence we are happy for this visit,” he said.
He assured the Royal Fathers that the council would work for the development of the Polytechnic. He also noted that the accreditation of more courses in the Polytechnic was in the pipeline as the Management team and the Council members of the Polytechnic are working towards achieving that feat in the shortest period of time.
“In order to discharge our duties accordingly, we solicit for your cooperation and an assurance of the safety of lives and properties”. The Council boss further pleaded.
On his part, the Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Dr. Uduak Ukekpe again applauded the host Community of the polytechnic for the understanding, support and harmonious co-existence that has existed since the inception of the federal institution in the area.
He has also assured of the commitment of the Polytechnic management towards making the institution a world-class polytechnic that all would be proud of.
Welcoming the royal fathers to the Polytechnic, the Rector, Dr. Ukekpe in his remarks, described their visit as timely, and sued for more of such understanding and support.
In their speech, the Royal Fathers in Ukana West, the host community of Federal Polytechnic, Ukana charged the newly appointed Governing Council of Federal Polytechnic, Ukana to be committed and dedicated to the task of repositioning the institution to attain a height that could make it among the best Polytechnics in the Country.
The Spokesperson the Royal Fathers, the Clan Head of Ukana West, HRH Okuku Silvanus Obot Udoekanem, who double as the Chairman of the Ukana West Traditional Rulers Council called on the Governing Council members to be committed to the progress of the institution.
He said ” We the traditional rulers from Ukana are pleased to welcome you to our community and to Federal Polytechnic, Ukana. We wish to use this opportunity to plead to you to take the Polytechnic as your own and do anything you can to raise it to a higher standard”.
” A lot of things are still lacking in the Polytechnic but we will be grateful if you will use your good office to liaise with the Federal Government to release enough funds to run the institution”. He added.
HH Okuku Udoekanem, also charged the Governing Council to ensure that more courses are accredited in the Polytechnic, assuring them that the community is ready to accommodate as many students as possible.
In a vote of thanks, Chief Michael Akpabio appreciated God for giving Ukana and the Polytechnic Community a responsive and committed Governing Council at this critical time. “I believe that Federal Government handed the job to tested and trusted hands. I pray God helps you to deliver effectively. And we are ready and prepared to cooperate with you at all times ” he said.
Also in attendance were the Deputy Rector Mr. Elijah E. Etuk, the Polytechnic Librarian, Dr.( Mrs) Mercy Ebong, Members of the Traditional Council, Ukana West, among others.
