FED POLY UKANA STRENGTHENS SECURITY WITH POLICE PARTNERSHIP
In a bid to create a safe and secure learning environment for staff and students, the Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, Akwa Ibom State, has partnered with the Nigerian Police Force, Ikot Ekpene Area Command.
Acting Rector, Qs Uduak Inyang-Udoh, emphasized the importance of this collaboration during a recent visit by the Management team of the Polytechnic to ACP Adamu D. Damji of the Ikot Ekpene Area Command at the Area Command, Ikot Ekpene.
In his words, “The presence of the police on our campus is a significant boost to our security infrastructure. We are committed to working closely with the police to protect lives and property within the Polytechnic,” he stressed.
According to the Acting Rector, the Polytechnic embarked on the familiarization visit with the aim of fraternizing with the security architecture within the Polytechnic environment and to solicit support and cooperation because it is obvious that without security no institution will work well. So the need for security within the Polytechnic can never be over emphasized.
Responding, ACP Adamu D. Damji of the Nigerian Police Force, Ikot Ekpene Area Command commended the Polytechnic’s proactive approach to security. He assured the institution of the police full support and called for continued collaboration between the two parties.
ACP Adamu also highlighted the crucial role of the host community in maintaining security. “We believe that a strong partnership with the community is essential for a secure environment,” he said. He urged the Polytechnic to also collaborate with the host community through corporate social responsibilities. He made a strong case for community policing.
The partnership between the Federal Polytechnic Ukana and the Nigerian Police Force is expected to significantly improve the security situation on campus and foster a conducive learning environment for all stakeholders.
Present during the meeting were the Essien Udim Divisional Police Officer, CSP Chairman Dore, Polytechnic Head of Works,Engr. Imo Okoji among other senior police officers.
