The Chairman-elect, Essien Udim Local Government Area, Rt Hon Anthony Luke Udo, has inaugurated a transition committee to work out modalities for the smooth take-off of the incoming administration of the Council.

The Committee has Rt Hon Sunyiekekere Inokon as chairman and Barr Mike Ebong as secretary.
Other members of the committee include Chief Imo-owo Okpokpo, Elder Dan Udo, Lady Mfon Udoima (Women Representative), Mr Boniface Inyang, Mr Itoro Akpan, Mr Nsini Umanah, Hon. Victor Udofia, Rev Emmanuel Inyang, Dr. Ifiok Essien, Hon Uduak Isobara, Ms Emem George, Head of Local Government Service; Mr Saturday Isonguyo, Essien Udim Elders Forum.
Inaugurating the committee, the Chairman-elect charged the committee members to liaise with the local government council with a view to taking inventory of assets and liabilities of the council and submitting recommendations for the smooth take-off of the incoming administration.
The Chairman—elect noted that the incoming administration has no intention to witch-hunt or punish anybody but to move Essien Udim forward.
While congratulating the committee, he charged them to do their best to ensure smooth transition of the new administration for the benefit of Essien Udim people.
Terms of reference for the committee, according to the Chairman-elect, include:
“To ascertain ongoing projects/programmes of the out-going administration, the extent of implementation and funding.
“To take inventory of moveable and immovable physical assets of the council including recovering of any/and all assets.
“To ascertain the true and current financial position of the out-going administration (Assets and liabilities) including bank overdrafts, loans, cash balances and revenue base and to make appropriate recommendation on the best possible way forward.
“To evaluate the state of financial health of Essien Udim local government council showing both credit and debit balances as at the inauguration of the new administration.
“To identify and retrieve reports on all sources of internally generated revenues of Essien Udim local government with implementable recommendations on IGR improvement strategy.
“To provide information on general administration and security of local government, including health, education, youth and sport, women affairs, rural water supply and proffer ideas on improvement or changes as may be necessary.
“To determine the nominal roll of all council personnel on department/unit basis including existing committee (if any).
“To ascertain the man-power needs and the deficiency (if any) of the council workforce on a department/unit basis.”
Responding, the Chairman of the Committee, Hon Sunyiekekere Inokon, thank the Chairman-elect for the confidence reposed on them to serve the Council in that capacity.
He promised to reciprocate the gesture by working hard to ensure a peaceful transition and also prepare a favourable atmosphere for the incoming administration to operate for the good and benefit of Essien Udim.
He expressed optimism that with the calibre of members of the committee they will deliver effectively to glory of God and development of Essien Udim.
