Engr Cammilus Umoh: Spotlighting the Essien Udom-born Commissioner designate

Engr. Cammillus Essien Umoh began his educational pursuit in Port Harcourt, where he bagged his First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) with Distinction in 1973 at Primary School, Ikot Ekpene Street, Port Harcourt.
He made a further Distinction Grade 1 in WASC from the prestigious Federal Government College, Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State in 1979 and was the institution’s Best Graduating Student for that year.
Urbane, curious and intellectually alert, Engr Cammillus Umoh, proceeded to the University of Benin from 1979-1984 where he graduated with a Second Class Upper Division degree in Civil Engineering. His exceptional brilliance also won him the Chevron National University Scholarship from 1982-1984. A man of amazing grace and courtly civility, the Essien Udim-born technocrat also has to his credit an MBA from the University of Port Harcourt Business School in 2020.
These academic credentials and exposure no doubt helped prepare Cammilus Umoh for greater tasks and responsibilities in life. He was a Lecturer at the Federal School of Arts and Science, Ogoja from 1987-1989.
A quiet and reticent fellow, devoted to duty and hard work and given to stoic fortitude and christian forbearance, Engr Cammilus Umoh became Managing Director, Quantum Nigeria Limited from 1990-1992.
This member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE, who is known for his ideological fidelity, great capacity for work and prodigious energy to organize with outstanding professional acumen, has over 24 years of professional service at Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, where at various times, he was Senior HSE Engineer, Principal Project Engineer and NCD Lead between 1993-2017, winning the Shell Executive Vice President, EVP, Price for Development of Indigenous Dredging Capacity in 2008 as well as the Shell CEOs HSSE & SP Award for SPDC Contractor Financing Support in 2014.
In all his assignments, Engr Cammilus Umoh established a reputation of thoroughness, uncommon brilliance cum deep commitment to due process and capacity for creative thinking and initiative.
In tone, simplicity and grace, Engr Cammilus Umoh goes about with a humility that is amiable, courteous and polite. Despite his achievements, Cammilus Umoh does not push himself or push anybody around. An exceptional administrator, discreet and professional in his assignments, he is a quintessential gentleman, meticulously cultivated, infinitely polite and eternally solicitous of the wellbeing of others. In fact, he is a bundle of humility, simplicity and grace.
While some leaders are more captives of their bureaucracies than being captains, Engr Cammillus Umoh, provides Akwa Ibom a perfect choice of a technocrat who has adequate grasp of the economic, political and social factors affecting the State and understands how best to evolve a comprehensive approach towards solving thorny socioeconomic challenges.
His main skill sets include Project Ideation and Planning, Construction Project Management, Project Execution, Strategic Contract And Cost Management, Project Assurance and Control, Personnel and Change Management.
Engr Cammilus Umoh has attended several courses and trainings both within and beyond the country and in the process worked in number of foreign countries, including South Korea, Holland and the United Arab Emirates. He speaks Annang, English and French.
He is a great team player and motivator with excellent communication and analytical skills and a focused and committed personality whose hubbies include peer group discussions, policy analysis, community development and mentoring the younger generation.
There is no doubt the fact that as a team player, easy going personality and a man with profound listening ears, he will make the state proud in any new assignment offered him by His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel towards achieving the goals of his administration’s Completion Agenda.
