Drum Majors for Peace convenes 2nd National Entertainment/Peace Summit
In commemoration of World Peace Day 2021, Drum Majors for Peace, a socio-cultural non-governmental organization based in Abuja, Nigeria is set to convene 2nd National Entertainment and Peace Summit

The release indicates that the theme for the 2021 peace summit is “RECOVERING BETTER FOR AN EQUITABLE AND SUSTAINABLE WORLD.” will focus on “EXPLORING THE POTENTIALS OF THE ENTERTAINMENT/CREATIVE INDUSTRY FOR PRODUCTIVITY, SUSTAINABLE PEACE AND NATION BUILDING.”
The event is scheduled to take place on Thursday, September 16th, 2021 at The Presidency, Nigerian National Merit Award House, 22 Aguiyi-Ironsi Street, Maitama, Abuja by 10.00am
According to the statement, the summit will be graced by the Chairman Senate Committee on Culture and Tourism, distinguish Senator Rochas Okorocha, the Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission (NUC), Professor Abubakar Adamu Rasheed, the Artistic Director/CEO National Troupe of Nigeria (NTN), Ahmed Mohammed Ahmed.
Others are the first professor of Dance in Africa and current Commissioner for Culture and Tourism Ekiti State, Prof. Razak Ojo Bakare, the Nigerian representative in African Union Economic social and Cultural Council Nigeria, the President General, African Peace Foundation, Professor Olamamakinwa (grand peace legend), VP Nyoroh, CM (DSC, REV. FR. BARR)
National Chaplain, Nigerian Correctional Catholic Chaplaincy Service, Honourable Commissioner represnting Akwa Ibom at the Federal Character Commission Obongawan Dorah D. Ebong, CEO/Chairman Domak Group Amb. Dr. Kingsley Azonobi.
Also expected to grace the summit include Amb. Austin Peacemaker, ECOWAS YOUTH AMBASSADOR and CEO, Security Affairs The Chairman/CEO of VEKTR CAPITAL INVESTMENT, Engr. Viktor Sal Kayode, Mr. Solomon Solomon Edet (ACCA, MNIM, FIMC, CMC, SMS), Comrade Solomon Adodo, President, National Youth Council of Nigeria, Comrade Danielson Akpan, GCNS, Immediate Past President, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Amb Desmond Femi Agboola, Convener, Democracy youth Round Table, Amb. Kingsley Amafibe, Project Director Peace Ambassador Agency Worldwide and many others.
Eminent scholars are also selected to share thoughts at the second National Entertainment and Peace summit according to the organisers.
The statement reads, “The summit brings together entertainers, stakeholders, thought leaders, religious leaders, businessmen, artisans, Government Agencies and civil society organisations to drum the message of peace, reconciliation, tolerance and social cohesion in our fragile social fabric and to encourage the creative industry to produce content that will unite us and not divide.
“The main goal of the initiative is to promote the huge potentials of our creative industry to ensure that no one is left out in the process of building a new Nigeria of our dreams, while the objectives are as follows:
“To galvanize support for the promotion of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG:16) (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions)
“To promote unity, social cohesion and creative empowerment especially now that the country is battling with a lot of issues ranging from unemployment, insecurity, religious intolerance, and all forms of agitations that suggest disintegration.
“To complement governments effort in promoting peace culture and conflict resolution in our educational system through Arts and Entertainment.
“In line with the organization’s tradition of complimenting governments efforts and other worthy stakeholders towards the promotion of positive values through our advocacy Programs, we cordially invite you to support the initiative.
“Your support will allow for a richer and epoch making event.
“No business can flourish in a nation where there is no peace, it is our collective responsibility therefore to promote peace in season and out of season.
