Disclaimer: Pastor Umoh Eno disowns social media impostors
The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, Pastor Umo Eno has warned members of the public to be wary of imposters and fraudsters who are out to misrepresent him on the social media platforms, urging to ignore messages emanating from them to avoid being victims of these “disingenuous scammers.”
This is contained in a disclaimer issued by the Media Assistant to the Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, Mr. Anthony Udoh.
It reads:
“”Our attention has been drawn to the activities of some individuals parading themselves as Pastor Umoh Eno, the Hon. Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, Akwa lbom State on social media platforms, particularly on Facebook and WatsApp.
“”This is to inform the general public and the social media community in particular, that Pastor Umoh Eno DOES NOT have any facebook account and has not authorised or appointed anyone to operate one on his behalf.
“”More so, Pastor Umoh Eno cannot, for whatsoever reason, use the Facebook or WhatsApp platforms to solicit for assistance of any nature from members of the public, publish phantom schemes, or invite anyone to any hotel for any despicable or immoral act.
“”The people currently doing so, are impostors, fraudsters and despicable characters apparently with malicious intent to blackmail and tarnish the cherished reputation of Pastor Umo Eno.
“”We therefore, urge members of the public to be wary of these imposters, and fraudsters and should henceforth ignore any message from anyone claiming to be Pastor Umo Eno on the social media platforms, to avoid being a victim of these disingenuous scammers.
“Please be guided accordingly.”
Recalled that recently the Akwa Ibom State Police Command paraded a suspect, Mr. Imaobong Kelvin Akpan who allegedly impersonated the State’s Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, Pastor Umoh Eno
According to the State Police Public Relations officer (PPRO), SP Odiko Macedon the suspect was arrested on 14/12/2021 at about 11:00am, based on a petition to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, detectives of the General Investigation Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Uyo.
SP MacDon said the suspect; Imaobong Kelvin (male) of #47 Akpasak Estate, Off Oron Road, Uyo has been impersonating the Honourable Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, Pastor Umo Eno through a fraudulent facebook account with username “Umo Eno,” and with the Commissioner’s photograph as profile picture.
He said, “the suspect who is a notorious fraudster and sex maniac confessed to have fraudulently created the facebook account.
“He uses the said account to lure innocent and unsuspecting ladies to hotels, have carnal knowledge of them with promise to assist them secure jobs, while defrauding others of various sums of money running into millions.
“”He succeeded in luring more than ten ladies through the fraudulent facebook account and had sexual intercourse with them at various hotels while posing as the Personal Assistant to the Hononurable Commissioner for lands and Water Resources.
“Exhibits recovered from the suspect include, two (2) glo, two (2) Airtel and one (1) MTN SIM cards that he uses interchangeably to contact his victims. Other exhibits include two phones and seven (7) dollars and five (5) yuan.”
