CRSG set to modernize sports infrastructure with private sectors investment
In a bold move to revolutionize its sports ecosystem, the government of Cross River State has announced its commitment to forging strategic partnerships with the private sector.
Governor Bassey Otu, during a recent meeting with a team of investors, expressed his administration’s readiness to provide a conducive environment for these collaborations to thrive.
“The dynamics of time and cost content have made it crucial for the private sector to join and partner in the financing for sports to thrive and meet global standards,” Governor Otu stated, identifying the shift in the sports industry from a mere leisure activity to a lucrative venture.
The Governor’s vision encompasses several key initiatives, including the modernization of the sports housing facility at the U. J. Esuene Sports Complex and the renovation of the sports stadium.
“We will be looking for an investor to partner with the Cross River State Government to turn the stadium into a very beautiful sporting facility,” he revealed, calling on potential partners to seize the opportunity.
While listing the state’s abundance of sports talent, Governor Otu expressed his desire to collaborate with relevant agencies to scout, nurture, and launch these talents onto the global sports stage.
“Cross River state is abundantly blessed with talents capable of taking the sports world by storm,” he asserted, underscoring the state’s commitment to developing its human capital in the sports sector.
In response, Mr. Daniel Daramola, the Chief Executive Officer of SRHD Sports Management, lauded the Governor’s visionary leadership and receptive approach to private sector partnerships.
Daramola stresses the far-reaching impact the proposed collaboration would have, not only on the state’s sports infrastructure but also on its economic development through revenue generation and job creation.
On his part, the project consultant, Dr. Samjeh Oscar of Edulumen Nigeria Limited, provided a detailed analysis of the prospects of the redesigned 50-room housing facility, stating that it would serve dual purposes of accommodating athletes and generating revenue for sports development in the state.
