Cross River APC: Group demands suspension of Sen. John Enoh over alleged anti-party affairs
A political campaign group under the umbrella of Back-to-South Arrangement over has called for the immediate sack of Senator John Owan Enoh from the All Progressive Congress, APC for dragging the Party, and the party governorship candidate, Senator Prince Bassey Otu to court.
The group also demanded the immediate removal of Senator Enoh’s name from the APC 2023 presidential campaign council of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
The call was made on Wednesday during a media briefing at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Cross River State council, Ernest Etim. Bassey Press Centre, Calabar.
The leader of the group, Mr Awatt Ekpenyong who represented the group opined that he pondered why Enoh stood against the same zoning system he had benefited from so much since being a Senator far back in 1999.
He said, “There is an axiom that says, ” To whom much is given, much is expected. Senator Owan since 1999 has been given the honour to represent the good people of Etung in the Cross River State House of Assembly, and the Obubra-Etung Federal Constituency and Cross River Southern Senatorial District” therefore, much is expected of him in terms of contribution, sacrifice and commitment toward the growth of the party and the state at all times””
“Senator John Owan having been allowed to contest the gubernatorial primaries and lost, even though the position was zoned to the southern part of the state, should have aroused in conscience to the reality that the APC has a large heart. We demand that Senator Enoh be immediately suspended from the All Progressives Congress””
“”He also stated, “Our dear presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Jagaban of the masses should know and have on record the destabilising actions of Senator Enoh and give him the appropriate sanctions his action deserves by removing him from The presidential campaign council immediately. We, therefore, demand that Senator Owan Enoh name be removed immediately from the presidential campaign council” Ekpenyong stressed.
Similarly, on Thursday over 35 other political campaign groups under the aegis of the same back to south agitation stages a protest at the state APC secretariat.
At the end of the group protest, the group presented a joined signed communique to the state chairman of APC, Barr. Alphonsus Eba, demanding the suspension from the party, and removal of Senator Enoh from the presidential campaign council.
The protesters carried Placards with the following headings: “No Prince Otu No APC in Cross River” “Senator Owan Enoh should be removed from presidential campaign council” Back to South in National, back to the south in Cross River” “Senator John Owan Enoh is playing Anti-party” Prince is our candidate” Senator John Owan Enoh must be suspended from the party””
