C’Riverians rain praises on Gov Otu over ongoing road projects in Calabar Metropolis
Residents and citizens of, Cross River State, have expressed their admiration and satisfaction with Governor Bassey Otu for delivering on his campaign promises.
This commendation followed an inspection tour on Thursday in Calabar Metropolis conducted by the Commissioner of Information, Mr. Erasmus Ekpang, who showcased the governor’s significant achievements in road construction and maintenance since he assumed office in May 2023.
During the inspection, journalists were taken to various project sites within Calabar Metropolis, including Gulvate at Chamley Street, Clerks Allay road construction, Nyong Edem and Eyo Okon concrete solid road construction, Yellow Duke gully construction, Zoo-Garden fruits Market building, Parliamentary Extension road renovation project, Esuk-Utan road dualization project, and Mauri Ntah Eke street construction.
Engineers at some of the project sites reported that several projects were nearly 90% or 60% completed.
The Commissioner of Information stated that Governor Otu was dedicated to restoring Calabar to its former glory and emphasized that the completion of the construction project was nearing 90% completion.
He expressed assurance that the road would be open to transporters and other users by the end of February.
“We are in a season of sweetness,” the commissioner declared. “We have inspected eight physical projects, and many roads have been fixed through Direct Labour. Governor Otu is committed to doing more,” he assured.
Residents, pleased with the ongoing road construction work, expressed their gratitude towards the governor. Elder Saviour Etim, a resident of Clerks Allay Street, shared his joy, saying, “I am very happy with the governor for thinking about us here at Clerks Allay.
“I have been here for over 30 years, and people have been deviating and urinating here, using the street as a toilet. I want to thank the governor for coming to our aid. He must be commended for this great achievement.”
At the Esuk Utan road project, Engineer Nta Edet of FaithPlant Construction LTD reported that they had accomplished around 70% of the 2.1-kilometer construction. He expressed optimism that they would meet the project’s schedule as long as funding remained available.
Youth leader Comrade Clement Effiong Etim of Esuk Utan also expressed his gratitude to Governor Otu.
“I want to express my gratitude to the governor, Senator Bassey Otu, for ensuring the construction of this road. It will significantly ease our people’s movement. We thank you, our Sweet Prince, for your good work.”
Governor Bassey Otu’s commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises and his remarkable progress in road construction and maintenance projects have garnered praise and appreciation from the people of Calabar.
As his administration continues, residents eagerly anticipate further improvements in the city’s infrastructure under his leadership.
