NDDC An anti-corruption campaign group, ACT For Positive Transformation Initiative, (APTI) has hailed the federal government for making some of the indicted officials of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to refund ill gotten monies to the government’s coffer.
The group which has been blowing the whistle on the NDDC has however urged the Federal Government to check alleged further reckless expenditure at the NDDC by immediately freezing the account of the commission.
The group which raised the alarm at a news conference in Abuja, regretted that despite the exposure of alleged monumental corruption at the NDDC, the spending spree at the Commission has remained unabated.
The Group’s Head, Directorate of Research, Strategy & Programme, Mr. Kolawole Johnson said they had raised similar alarm in June this year via a letter to the leadership of the National Assembly.
Speaking on the development at the NDDC, a chieftain of the all progressives congress APC, Alhaji Garus Gololo pointed out that the Buhari administration through the minister of Niger Delta affairs, chief Godswill Akpabio had done a lot to rid the commission of deep rooted corruption, a step he argued should not be politicised.
President Mohammadu Buhari early this year instituted a forensic audit of the NDDC which has led to the uncovering of monumental corruption at the commission.
