Clergy charges christians to uphold love as the ultimate
Senior Christ Servant of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, James Godwin has charged Christians to imbibe love as the ultimate and the greatest virtue, describing the salvation of man as through love and in love.
He gave this charge during the funeral service in honour Late Madam Eugenia Emily Cookey at the deceased compound in Opobo town in Opobo/ Nkoro Local Government Area of Rivers State on Saturday.
The clergy admonished the family, friends and well wishers of the deceased on the topic “Love”, taking his text from the book of John 8 vs 12-13, and his golden reading from Revelation 5 vs 7-9.
He further stated that the feeling of love is the very best feeling in the world. According to him,God is love and when our hearts are open, the love that is God comes into the physical body and fills us with the sweet feelings of joy and peace. He expressed his joy over the fact that late Madam Eugenia understood this mystery and lived all her life loving and caring for people hence the show of love from family and friends gathered to pay her their last respect.
He therefore, charged everyone alive to show love to one another at all times as no one knows the day nor the hour he or she will be called back home by the creator.
The Rector Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, Dr. Uduak S. Ukekpe, in a condolence message to the family of the late Matriach of Cookey Dynasty, described the late Madam Eugenia as a devoted Christian who served God with all her heart.
The condolence which reads in part, indicates” She was a kind and virtuous woman, who always put others before herself. She will undoubtedly be missed by the family, friends and the community.” Ukekpe tasked the family to find consolation in the lovely memories they shared with the deceased mother and prayed God to grant the soul of the departed septuagenarian solace and the family the fortitude to bear the lost.
