Business guru canvasses support for Persons Living with Disabilities
A call has been made to the government, public spirited individuals and organizations to always assist and engaged people living with disabilities as they tend to be even more sincere and hardworking.
The call was made on Friday to the Journalists by Mr. Otobong Peters, Managing Director, Potomass Restaurants and Eateries, Calabar, Cross River State. Mr Peters made the remarks while enumerating the life and qualities of one of the persons with a disability, Mr Richard John, 43, who has worked with him for more than 10 years.
According to Mr Peters, people with disabilities are more sincere, respectful and hardworking in the discharge of their duties, and called on the government, organizations and society in general not to stigmatise this category of people in any way or entertain fear but rather employ them into any category of services as they tend to be more sincere and hardworking.
“He said, “I have known Mr Richard for more than 10 years now, I wish to acknowledge that I have never seen somebody that is so sincere, respectful, and very hardworking. Since he was made the Manager he has been up and working. He uses sign language and communicates with everybody successfully. He is so friendly with customers. We have more customers because of his social life. He never makes mistakes. He is very straightforward, and strict, and he rendered accounts accurately. He treats the people working under him with dignity and respect”
“Even if he is deaf and dumb, he has worked with people without disability successfully without complaints, and I know the general insinuations out there is that people think they can’t work with other people. But I stand to debunk the insinuations today, that they are good managers and they can manage people as well. They can manage any business successfully. Throughout my time with Mr Richard, I have not found him wanting in anything, therefore I stand to defend and recommend anybody living with a disability anywhere”
“”I wish to use these chances, therefore to call on the government, and individuals organizations not to stigmatise or discriminate against people living with a disability rather we should join hands together and employ them in any category of engagements to move them away from vulnerability and negligent in the society” Mr Peter appealed.
Speaking one of the sales girls, Miss Quineeth Nya said, “Mr Richard, is very friendly to everyone. Customers visit us regularly due to his peculiar lifestyle, he is very strict and sometimes disciplines us if we go wrong”
