Appeal Court Victory: A Resounding Victory For the People’s Will – Gov. Otu

Cross River State Governor, Prince Bassey Otu has dedicated the recent Appeal Court victory to the people of the State.
In a statement released by his media aide, Mr Emmanuel Ogbeche, the Governor said, “The Court of Appeal’s decision is a resounding affirmation of the will of the people of Cross River State. It is a clear indication that the people have spoken and their choice has been upheld by the judiciary.”
The Cross River State Governor, Sen.Prince Bassey Edet Otu in his message after his affirmation called on the opposition to accept the verdict of the Appeal Court and to stop further litigation, which he believes is a waste of time and resources. He urged all political actors to focus on the development of the state and the well-being of its people.
Governor Otu stated this over the week when the Appeal Court Logos state Division sealed his election victory of March 8, 2023.
His words, “It is time for us to put our political differences aside and work together for the progress of Cross River State. The people have given me a mandate to lead and it is my duty to fulfill that mandate to the best of my ability,”
“The ruling of the Court of Appeal today is a welcome development and affirms that we were overwhelmingly voted in by the people on March 18, 2023.
“This ruling should bring an end to litigation on the outcome of the governorship election. For those in the opposition, especially my brother, Prof. Sandy Onor, I once again offer you a hand of friendship. Come and join my administration so that together we can move our state forward and bring about the dividends of democracy.
“My administration is fully reenergised to deliver on the People First Mandate, which is on track to repositioning our state for effective and responsive governance. I solicit for the support and patience of all Cross Riverians as we navigate the challenging times towards the Cross River of our dream.
“Let me reassure all our citizens that we are working round the clock to ensure that we deliver the best governance for our people. It is important also to note that reparations are in top gear for a robust and successful Calabar festival, while we continue to address other socio-economic and developmental issues,” said by the Governor
He also expressed his gratitude to the supporters and well-wishers who have stood by him throughout the legal battle. Governor Otu assured them that he would not disappoint their trust and would continue to work tirelessly for the betterment of the state.
The Governor’s victory at the Court of Appeal comes after a prolonged legal battle with the opposition over the outcome of the March 18 governorship election. With this victory, Governor Otu hopes to put an end to the election litigation and focus on fulfilling his campaign promises to the people of Cross River State.
