Akwa Ibom talents need sponsorship – Gospel Minister,Goodness Mercie
A gospel minister popularly known as Goodness Mercies has posited that Aka Ibom talents, particularly in the music industry which have witnessed infux of creative minds, need sponsorship to grow like their counterparts in other states.
Speaking with our reporter recently, Goodness Mercies maintained that Akwa Ibom is pregnant with good singers but has always lacked the sponsors that could develop these talents.
The young minister disclosed that poor funding have caused alot of Akwa Ibom alents to wallop in unproductiveness, a development she rather discribed as unfortunate.
In her words: “Akwa Ibom is blessed with talented singers and there are those who are still coming up, but their songs are not well received across the state. When it happens like this it left me on a spot of thought always asking, when will Akwa Ibom raised National and International stars?
“I currently have two albums in the market; Inua mmi and Praise the Lord is working for me with several others that are yet to be out. Through my ministrations, alot of souls have been redeemed. We need money to take this gospel message to people in other part of the world.”
However, Goodness Mercies noted that what triggered the lack of sponsorship of young minds in Akwa Ibom is constant infiltration into the industry without a calling, thereby causing some singers to go around begging.
According to her,”people who are not genuine musicians tend to sing to the glory of men; that is why at times the public do mistake real for fake.”
Similarly, the young Akwa Ibom talent revealed that while a vast majority of well meaning citizens of the state do not pick interest in sponsoring singers, a few give conditions that she described as unholy.
“Those that I thought they could help, they will want to defile us that are of female gender; well for the male may be they do not see any one to help.
“Personally, I am not ready to bend for such favours rather, I hope on God for his Devine visitation. I believe that destiny delayed can not be denied,” she said.
She admitted that most of her inspiration is drawn from Sinach and Mercy Chinwo ministrations, adding that she wants to do better than the duo in music industry.
In another development, Goodness Mercies also known as Goodness Bassey, who is celebrating her 27th birthday, disclosed that her wealth of knowledge has created a far reaching impact in the economic lives of most Akwa Ibom youths.
The Akwa Ibom talent admitted that she also engages in procurement of goods such as handbags, shoes, gas cookers as so on from China for small and medium scale businesses.
This according to her is to empower people with low capital investment to start something.
” I bring people with low capital together, import goods from China for them and charge them five percent of whatever order they make,” She said.
