A One Day Solemn Assembly organized by the Akwa Ibom State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board 2021 Prayer Convocation with the theme: Mighty Things Through Prayers, held at United Evangelical Church, Ikot Oku Ubo, Uyo on Friday.
Chairman Board, Archbishop Dr Cletus Bassey, while welcoming delegates said the prayer convocation was in keeping with the custom of the Board to always pray for for and seek God’s help for the State and Nation.
Dr Bassey while thanking Governor Udom Emmanuel for his magnanimity in supporting the Board described the Governor as a man who believes in prayer and the power of God to supernaturally control and intervene in the affairs of men.
Archbishop Bassey who is the presiding Bishop of Destiny Mission International said the Board will continue to pray for the success of Governor Emmanuel’s administration, maintaining that Nigeria also needs to seek the intervention of God in her affairs especially at this period the country is facing enormous challenges on many fronts.
“The worrisome state of insecurity, kidnapping of students, and countless attacks on our security architecture are few reasons we must approach God in repentance and seek his mighty works through the unfailing power of prayer”, Archbishop Bassey said.
In his remarks at the event, Governor Udom Emmanuel took the Bible reading from Psalm 65:1-2 and charged citizens to pray for the intervention and direction of God in the upcoming 2023 general elections in the state.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, Governor Emmanuel lauded the Archbishop Bassey led Board for the solemn assembly and pledged continued support for their operations.
On 2023, the Governor stressed that God is in charge and that His will concerning the next governor would prevail in the state at the appropriate time. Arguing that God does not pick the qualified, Governor Emmanuel said God rather qualifies whoever He picks.
He accordingly enjoined the people to exhibit the virtue of humility at all times irrespective of who they are and recognize the grace of God and His divine purpose in whatever they do.
