Akwa Ibom Police Command parade criminal suspects
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has within the last one month arrested about 328 suspected criminals including a fake Army man that have made life difficult for residents of the State.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Imohimi Edgal disclosed this today at the Police Command Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia while parading some of the suspects.
Briefing newsmen, Edgal said that some of the criminals are alledged cultists who have been terrorising Oruk Anam communities in recent times.
He noted that 17 of the suspected cultists were arrested in Ikot Obio Idang village and environs by men of the anti-cultism unit of the Command who swung into action following the killing of another cultist by members of the rival group.
It would be recalled that Inen Clan in Oruk Anam had been a hot zone and no go area following the incessant cult related activities that has led to lost of not fewer 10 lives.
Also paraded by the Command, is a fake Army man with uniform and his gang member who specialize in snatching peoples vehicles at gun point. The suspected armed robber cum Army man is from Delta State.
The Command equally paraded another four man robbery gang that Rob residents of their vehicles and another gang that specialize in tracing bank customers from bank to rob them.
A particular case was the tracing of a customer from bank to his vehicle and rob him of N1million at gunpoint.
Also paraded were alleged human trafficking syndicate including an evil mother that sold her new born baby. The baby and another four days old baby also trafficed have been recoverd and reunited with parents while all the suspects will be prosecuted in court at the conclusion of investigation.
Meanwhile, CP Imohimi Edgal has restated the commitment of the Command to rid the State of criminals.
He has also called for collaboration between between members of the public and the Police to fight crime in the State.
