Akwa Ibom NIPR to honour Kings Flour Mill at 2022 AGM
The Kings Flour Mill in Akwa Ibom State has been shortlisted for excellence award in productivity and perception management by the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations.
This was disclosed when a delegation of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Akwa Ibom State chapter, today, paid a courtesy visit to the management of Kings Flour Mill in Onna LGA to intimate them of the activities of the organization as well as its intention to present them with an award of excellence at its upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Opening up on the awards, chairman of the AGM planning committee, Mr Manasseh Umoette, said that they had assessed the Akwa Ibom environment and decided to recognise organizations that have made immeasurable impact and contributions to the development of the state in a bid to encourage them to promote their brand.
According to him, the Kings Flour Mill was carefully selected after examining its role in aiding the growth and sustainability of Akwa Ibom State’s economy.
“As image managers, we are concerned about the image of our dear state and we have seen that there is one organisation that has helped us promote the Akwa Ibom brand and that is the Kings Flour Mill.
“It is a thing of pride that something is being produced in Akwa Ibom State and is sent to all parts of the country and it gives us leverage in terms of promoting the Akwa Ibom brand.
“So the committee after assessing your activities, came to a conclusion that the Kings Flour Mill has helped in the economic sustainability of Akwa Ibom State.”
The chairman of the planning committee, intimated the management that the NIPR had deemed it fit to honour the Kings Flour Mill at the Annual General Meeting and dinner/ award ceremony as the company had aided in promoting the state’s image as running a production economy as opposed to its prior state of being a consumer-economy.
“There were times when we needed things and we had to go to nearby states to get them. We were more like people who consumed and that was the perception people had of us but today the story has changed courtesy of the Kings Flour Mill, so we are people who are productive and now we have something to offer other parts of the country.”
Mr Umoette made it known that the award presentation was an honour to the organisation and a way of celebrating excellence. He also requested for an opportunity for members of NIPR to be taken on a tour of the facility a day before the ceremony.
“There are so many people within Akwa Ibom State who do not that there is an organisation like this. People who consume the byproducts of Kings Flour Mill do not know they are produced in their state, let alone knowing that there is a operating factory that does the productions.
“We had also proposed to take our members who are part of the AGM on a facility tour of Kings Flour Mill as a way of bridging the gap and letting our members know what is really happening in Akwa Ibom and that it is not just a fairy tale. Some people could have the impression that it is produced somewhere else and brought to Akwa Ibom to market because in times past, we have had things done in that way but by the grace of God, we have an industry that is working in Akwa Ibom.”
In his response, the Managing Director of Kings Flour Mill, Mr. Aslan Fatoglu appreciated the delegation for the courtesy visit and wished them success in the organization and execution of the Annual General Meeting of the NIPR.
He stated that VKS, the parent company of Kings Flour Mill decided to establish industries in Akwa Ibom State because Governor Udom Emmanuel understands the importance of industrialisation and supports investors who come into the state.
“Kings Flour Mill is a known company all over Nigeria, not just Akwa Ibom state. Our sister company is the Jubilee Syringe Factory.
“We built the industries here in Akwa Ibom because the governor is very supportive of investors and created a conducive environment for their businesses to thrive.
The delegation constituted members of the planning committee of the Annual General Meeting which include Mr. Manasseh Umoette (Chairman), Mr Essien Ndueso (Chairman of Awards Committee), Mrs. Mercy David, (Secretary of the Planning Committee), Comrade Kingsley Eyita and Comrade Unyime Ikpe.
The Annual General Meeting which features lectures and an award ceremony is slated to hold on the 4th of November, 2022 at the Breakfort Hotels and Suites in Uyo.
