Ukana Akpautong community in Essien Udim LGA of Akwa Ibom State has lauded President Muhammadu Buhari and the Honourable Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio for approving the construction of Ukana Akpautong Road at the Federal Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday – 24th. June, 2020.
Hon. Raphael Udoma, Political Leader of Ukana Akpautong and Former Vice-Chairman of Essien Udim LGA told newsmen in Ukana that the project is a convincing sign that the federal government is committed to the progress of Essien Udim and Akwa Ibom State at large.
“I have no doubt that this federal project will bring a huge relief to our community which have for a long time been stressed by the poor condition of the road.”
“Indeed, we thank President Muhammadu Buhari for the confidence he has reposed on our leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio and giving him the platform to project the interest of Ukana Akpautong community at the Federal Executive Council”, he added.
Speaking in the same vein, the President Ukana Akpautong Development Committee,Mr Godfrey Philip Udoh noted that ‘’One cannot but commend President Buhari and Senator Akpabio for taking such a bold and unparalleled initiative in governance. We thank them immensely and urge them not to be deterred.”
Also Prof. Emmanuel Bush, Vice President Ukana Akpautong community called on youths in the community to support everything about the project in its entirety, because when completed, this road will link us to other communities and by implication position our community for all round competitive commercial activities.
Being a predominantly farming community, this road means a lot to us. Our farm produce will be open to better and wider markets when it is completed,” he said.
The community leaders who poured encomiums on Senator Godswill Akpabio for always prioritizing the well-being of the area expressed that the approval of the N1.538 Billion road contract will be a catalyst for economic development and further open-up the area for development.
They further pledged their continued support for all programmes of the President Muhammadu Buhari led-administration and Senator Godswill Akpabio’s leadership.
