Akan Udofia brings succour to displaced persons in Essien Udim
In a bid to bring succour to the persons displaced as a result of the recent crisis in Essien Udim Local Governmet Area, the Chief Executive Officer, Desicon Group of Companies, Engineer Akan Udofia has donated food items to the internally displaced persons in the area.
While presenting the items to the Chairman, Essien Udim Local Government Council, Mr Anthony Luke and the Catholic Bishop of Ikot Ekpene Diocese, Dr Camillus R. Umoh on Wednesday, 21st April, 2021 at St Anne’s Catholic Catheral Ifuho, Ikot Ekpene where the displaced persons are camped, Mr Akan Udofia said the gesture was part of the company’s corporate responsibility.
He posited that his heart goes out to the affected persons in the unfortunate event occasioned by the crisis and therefore he could not hesistate to lend a helping hands to ease their suffering and pains.
He commended the local government Chairman, Mr Anthony Luke for his love and care for his people, stressing that true leadership charisma always manifests during difficult times.
He described the Chairman as the man of the people just as he lauded the Catholic Bishop of Ikot Ekpene Diocese, Dr Camillus R Umoh and the Catholic Community for accommodating the IDPs and also providing for them, noting that the church has demonstrated true Christian attitude and prayed God to bless them.
In his remarks, the Chairman, Essien Udim Local Government Council, Mr Anthony Luke expressed gratitude to the donor and assured him of effective use of the items for the purpose they were meant for.
Luke described Mr Akan Udofia as a philanthropist with no boundaries and prayed for the success of his company.
Responding, the Bishop of Ikot Ekpene Catholic Diocese, Dr Camillus R. Umoh said the church will continue to leave up to their religious responsibilities which is to care for God’s people despite denominational differences.
He described the Catholic Church as a universal church that cares for all humanity created by God.
The Catholic Bishop thanked the donor, Mr Akan Udofia for his kind gestures and prayed for his success in his future endeavours.
