ABU Alumni Association President Encourages Alumnus to Support Endowment Fund
A passionate appeal has been sent by the new National President Worldwide of Ahmadu Bello University Alumni Association , Mallam Adamu Kontagora, to all Ex-students to support the university’s Endowment Foundation Fund.
Mallam Kontagora, who threw his full weight behind the establishment of the ABU Endowment Foundation and the launching of the Annual Alumni and Friends Giving for the university, announced by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, in a letter to Ex-students, said it was fundamental and necessary to support the call for financial assistance to the university.
The Board of Trustees , BoT, of the Endowment Foundation is chaired by Alhaji Mahmud Yayale Ahmed CFR, a former Head of Civil Service of the Federation, and former Secretary to the Government of Federation , with other eminent as members of the board of trustees. Every graduate with five and above post graduation years is requested to make a minimum contribution of N25, 000 in support of the university.
‘ I am, by this letter, appealing, especially to you, our alumni and friends to contribute financially to the Annual Giving starting this year, and continually thereafter, for sustainability, ” the VC said in the letter.
In that regard, Mallam Kontagora said that the alumni association under his watch and direction is collaborating with the management of the university led by Prof. Bala for the success of the project.
With that in mind, Mallam Kontagora further explained that the appeal became necessary, adding that it was in line with the objectives of the alumni association, one of which is to encourage members to individually and collectively support teaching and other activities in the university.
Giving an insight into what his governance principles, the National President said that it was vitally important to set out the focus of his administration early enough so that everyone will key into it, stressing that he is committed to making the most of the opportunity and collaboration with the management of the university for the promotion of the welfare, standards, prestige and the good name of ABU.
Matching words with action, Mallam Kontagora, who emerged the new National President of the alumni association at the 16th Annual General Assembly, AGA, held at the main campus of the university, Samaru, last week, paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor with members of the new National Executive Committee a few days ago.
