… Plot to defraud Governor Udom Emmanuel
With more than two years to the 2023 Governorship primaries, plot by some government appointees to defraud Governor Udom Emmanuel under the pretext of mobilising statutory delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ahead of the primaries has been uncovered.
The plot which is spearheaded by a Commissioner from Ikot Ekpene Senatorial district, saw some allies of the Governor approaching him with a proposal that rather than invest money in the party which may end up empowering his opponents, money should be released for on ward disbursement to would be delegates but with a condition: Beneficiaries of the money who are statutory delegates of the party and constitutionally entitled to vote during the party’s primaries must swear to a traditional oath (Mbiam).
Sources from government circles say this plot goes contrary to the belief of His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel who upon coming to office heaven rededicated the state to God and proscribed cultism in the state which ushered in an end to “Mbiam politics” in Akwa Ibom State.
But a Board member from Eket Senatorial district who did not buy into their plans said it was sad that some politicians are out to return the state to the old days the state has been trying to extricate itself from.
He expressed dismay that some leaders who are averssed to developmental politics are desperately plotting to hijack the PDP Structure in the state and return the state to an era that brought pains and tears to many families, lamenting that democracy should be allowed to prevail in the nomination process.
Also speaking a Youth activist and one of the statutory delegate who did not want her name in print for hear of victimization said, agents of wickedness who seems to profit from these satanic enterprises could not hide their displeasure over the governor’s intolerable disposition to their demonic but highly lucrative business.
“Ahead of the 2023 elections, some desperate political actors in Akwa Ibom state have sworn to return the state to the dark age by trying to convince the Governor to tow their path as they proposed to administer Mbiam, a fetish traditional oath to some party delegates in order to win their loyalty and also act their script. This is also a ploy to defraud the Governor as they usually complain “Ke Ette Isisioho Nkpo” and have vowed to use the Mbiam project in the guise of assisting the governor to produce a successor to defraud him”, she said.
According to her “Most of these political actors belong to the Mkpo Ibagha gang; they are bent on collecting money from the Governor to execute their evil plans, their motive is to return the state to the devil’s coven and enrich themselves while executing their plans.
In as much as the governor wants to produce a successor administering of fetish oath “mbaim” to party delegates just to win their loyalty and act their script will cast spell on the land. Power belongs to God and He gives it to whosoever He will”.
She explained that the state should seek seek the face of God now more than ever as Akwa Ibom State have lost prominent sons in the past few months.
According to the delegate who hails from Eket federal Constituency, “the Mkpo Ibagha gang who are planning to undertake the administration of fetish oath for parochial and selfish gains should have a rethink and repent from their evil ways else they would not be alive to see 2023 elections. Though they have already selected “Resource Persons” for their satanic project across the thirty one Local Government Areas of the state.
Investigation by our reporter indicates the plot which has serving members of the state executive and some National Assembly members, is expected to lobby party delegates to abide by the terms of the oath as a precondition for the 2023 Governorship primaries.
