ISOPADEC staff shutdown Commission over 2 months unpaid salaries
Staff of Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC) have shutdown the Commission’s headquarters in Owerri.
The staff told the Managing Director of ISOPADEC; Chief Charles Orie that they will not unlock the gate to the offices until their April and May 2020 salaries are paid.
They also complained they have been short-paid salaries since June 2020 till date as over 75% of their salaries are being slashed for no just cause.
The Managing Director pleaded that more time be given to him so he can talk to Governor Hope Uzodinma to make him understand that ISOPADEC is a commission different from normal civil service routine.
The ISOPADEC staff noted that they have lost 2 of their colleagues to to inability of the deceased to pay sums for their medication.
Another staff reportedly lost his only son because he was unable to raise N4,000 for his medication, yet the MD ISOPADEC allegedly used a convoy worth over N140 million with over 25 special assistants living in luxury while the ISOPADEC staff dies one after the other for being salary starved.
