… Warns Vandals to Stay off facility
Joy and satisfaction from residents have greeted the restoration of electricity in the amiable village of Mbikpong Ikot Edim in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area.
Powered by the member representing Ibesikpo Asutan State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Elder Aniekan Uko popularly called IBOROAKAM, the project has brought to an end about two years darkness in the community occasioned by negligence on the part of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN).
It could be recalled that for the past two(2) years the people of the village have not tested electricity as the people were put to the stress of struggling to afford Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) to power their houses and businesses for survival .
Worrieded by the ugly development, the people-oriented lawmaker, in the spirit of the yuletide, decided to bring the long suffering of the community to a halt by footing the bills running into millions of Naira for the restoration of light to ameliorate the suffering of the people.
Speaking while interacting with the community leaders during the official switch -on formality of the facility, Rt Hon Aniekan Uko hinted that the next development in the pipeline to be unveiled will be the flagging – off of Mbikpong Ikot Edim – Ikot Akpa Edu Road.
He explained that the road project, which through his push and the approval of Governor Udom Emmanuel, has been captured in 2021 State Budget for Construction.
The cerebral lawmaker used the opportunity to thank Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel for his sensitivity by bringing succour back to the people of Ibesikpo Asutan through his approval of the road project.
“The road will be a great relief to the economic activities of the people of Mbikpong Ikot Edim – Afaha Ikot Osom – Afaha Ikot Akpaedu linking Oboyo Ikot Ita in Nsit Ibom Local Government doing businesses in the popular Afaha market, and will also reconnect the people of the area which were completely cut off from the State Capital.
On the facility, the erudite lawmaker, used the opportunity to warn vandals not to continue in the habit of vandalising facilities that is for the benefit of the masses describing the act as wickedness, inhuman and impediment to development.
For the records, this is the third time that the lawmaker has restored electricity in that community due to vandalism by hoodlums.
Pomp and peagantry showed in the reactions of the villagers who took out time to appreciate the gesture of the people’s IBOROAKAM.
For the Village Head, Chief (Pastor) John Okon Etim, the restoration of electricity in the area by the member is synonymous with life to the community who has been thrown into hardship due to the electricity draught.
The “Obong Mkparawa” of the community Commrade Udeme Offiong thanked the member for ameliorating their electricity challenge , describing him as a “Representative of the People, elected by the People and living all his life for the people.” and also prayed God to continue to keep him as the shinning light for community.
The Women, Youths, Elders and the entire community residents could not hold their joy and feelings as they chanted sweet songs curried with a “promise fulfilled” for the uncommon gesture of the Ibesikpo Asutan State Constituency representative .
Businesses have been rekindled and other activities have come alive for their source of their power is restored.
