Essien Udim Council boss pledges adequate security of lives and property at Fed Poly Ukana as he pays working visit.
The Chairman, Essien Udim Local Government Area, Mr Anthony Luke, has asured the Management of Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, of adequate security of lives and property in the institution.
The Council boss gave the assurance when he paid working visit to the institution today, 16th December, 2020.
Luke restated that security of lives and property of the people of Essien Udim remains paramount to his administration, adding that he will not leave any stone unturned in wiping out hoodlums and criminals in the area.
The Council helmsman charged students of the institution to shun cultism and face their studies.
He commended the Rector of the institution for piloting the affairs of the school creditably and repositioning the polytechnic which he said is the only federal institution in the area.
The Essien Udim Chairman also urged management the polytechnic to carry the host community along in the development of the institution.
While expressing satisfaction with the infrastructural development at the institution, the council boss enjoined the Rector to continue with the good works, pledging to provide enabling environment for more development and academic activities to thrive in the institution.
Luke promised to partner the institution to train artisans and build capacity among youths in the area and pledged the support of the council towards the growth and development of the institution.
In his remarks, the Rector, Federal Polytechnic Ukana, Dr Uduak Ukekpe, commended Mr Anthony Luke for the visit, noting that Luke is the first Council Chairman to pay a working visit to the institution in recent times.
The Rector stated that he is working hard to transform the institution and make it one of the best polytechnics in the country.
He pointed out that management is putting structures in place for the accreditation of Engineering Courses, adding that his administration has built and equipped a library for the institution and acquire some Engineering equipment worth millions of naira.
Ukekpe solicited support of the council to complete the perimeter fencing project at the permanent site of the institution for the safety and security of the staff and students and sought partnership with the council in training of artisans and entrepreneurs from the area.
