Mantaining Artisans and Business Registry at 4 levels of governance
One of the major challenges we have in Nigeria is our inability to put together and maintain credible data and information management of businesses, enterprises , skills and artisanship REGISTRY at all levels of government and administration in Nigeria.
Providing credible data and information management, helps in proper economic planning. Such information and data management will also come handy in packaging business support intervention schemes, training and other programs that can easily help in the growth of the real sector of our economy and transfer of knowledge.
This will also help in taxation management, incentive provisions and elimination of multiple tariffs and quackery.
FOR INSTANCE… how many vehicle and auto mechanics do we have in Ihube Clan , Okigwe LGA, Okigwe Zone, Imo state and Nigeria ?
What are their areas of specialization, business locations/ addresses, indentity , training background, levels of specialization, work tools available etc .?
Such data and information management can help the government to plan and set up properly equipped auto mechanic industrial parks / clusters with support infrastructure and parts centers embedded into the place via robust and excellently drawn PPP architectures.
Such properly collated, analyzed and digitised data and information management will also provide vehicle owners with digitised online registry of registered and credible auto mechanics, their areas of specialisation, level of training, the business address and locations, phone numbers and all the information needed incase of emergency.
Only those, who have suffered heavy losses in the hand of quacks and poorly trained auto mechanics will understand and appreciate the urgent need for such registry.
This registry can be replicated for other vocational, artisanal, technical and professional fields and works of life at all levels of governance and administration- community , LGA, Zones, State and national levels.
This will also help us to properly assist these artisans and professionals to set themselves up in properly registered cooperatives that can enable them to access business support intervention funds and loans with counter guarantee arrangements.
This arrangement will also help us to streamline taxation and eliminate multiple levies on these artisans, traders and businesses.
It is a win win for all stakeholders.
We can help the states to design , structure, fund and execute these schemes of arrangements under robust PPP frameworks.
We can fix this land. No one fixes a problem without properly identifying the root cause, dimensioning the risks and applying appropriately developed mitigants based on credible data and information
God help us
