IKIMAP: Media Forum set for appraisal tour of Ikono/In LG chairmen’s projects
An umbrella organization for professionals in the media sector from Ikono and Ini local government area extraction, The Ikono/Ini Media Professionals Forum (IKIMAP) is set for an interactive session and a week-long assessment of projects embarked upon by Ikono and Ini Local Government Council Chairmen in the area on Friday, 20th November, 2020.
This was part of the resolutions reached by the group on Sunday at a joint executive and general congress of the organization, held in Uyo the state capital.
The group hinted that the scorecard with their projects will help them to determine how the council chairmen performed within the last three years in office as their tenure is about to expire, moreover setting a template for the new administration.
Addressing members of the group, the President Mr. Emmanuel Ufon said, Mr. Itoro Columba in a telephone conversation with him has approved to give the group an audience for a media chat with him and the subsequent tour to conduct the Media Professionals around projects initiated and completed by him, and how it will affect the people positively.
According to the President, “We in the media are the watch-dog of the society, we have to play a strategic and dynamic role in promoting as well as espousing the ideals, activities, projects, and programs of government and that of our representatives at various tiers of government; the uniqueness of media in this direction deliberately or inadvertently influence the relationship between the government and its citizens, or by extension has a strong bearing on the social and economic status of our community and the people”.
Given this, the IKONO/INI MEDIA PROFESSIONALS FORUM in it avow-resolved to contribute positively to the development of the two LGA’S through incisive, undiluted and unbiased reportage, has concluded plans to embark on an assessment visit of projects and program initiated and completed by those entrusted with the peoples’ mandate, starting from the Chairmen State, political appointees and representatives from the area.
Ufon said that the group will partner with reputable prints and electronic media to showcase the reports from the outing and called on the chairmen to lead by examples in according the media the needed cooperation in the discharge of their legitimate responsibility to the masses.
