MRO will place Akwa Ibom at the pinnacle of global aviation map – Engr Ita Awak
A one-time Commissioner for Information and Director of Airworthiness Standards, DAWS, in Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, Engr Ita Awak has said, the kick-off of the Maintenance, Repairs and Over-hauling, MRO, facility at the Victor Attah International Airport, will place Akwa Ibom on the pinnacle of the Aviation industry, driving home huge revenue and resources to the State.
Engr. Ita Awak stated this at his Shelter Afrique residence, when the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong led the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Inyang Jameson and Directors in the Ministry to present an excellent service award to the former Commissioner in recognition of his contributions to the development of the Ministry in particular and the State in general. Engr Awak served meritoriously as a member of the State Executive Council between 2002-2003.
The former info boss said that with Akwa Ibom as the only State with a successful commercial airline, the MRO will be of added advantage as it will make the State a much sought after location, not only by neighbouring states within the South/South region but the entire African continent.
He noted that, Ibomair is the pride of every Akwa Ibom person irrespective of Political divide, adding that, he will in future support any noble initiative of the state government as he did in the facilitation of the quick registration of the ibomAir planes.
He expressed deep appreciation to Comrade Ini Ememobong for leading the delegation from the Ministry for the visit and for instituting the College of past Commissioners which has given them a sense of belonging in government and also put the present Government in a very good light.
While congratulating the State Spokesman on his numerous achievements since assumption of office, Engr Ita Awak extolled the sterling leadership style of Comrade Ini Ememobong and his deep sense of humility which has endeared him to many including past Commissioners of Information.
Earlier, the State Information helmsman had said, the Management of Ministry of Information and Strategy had come to visit Engr Ita Awak, like they Gabe done with other past commissioners.
Comrade Ini Ememobong thanked Engr Ita Awak on behalf of the State government for his contributions towards the smooth take off of IbomAir and his general interest in the development of the State. He presented ‘Akwa Ibom Impact’-a publication of the Ministry, to the former Commissioner.
