The Hacker group anonymous has threatened to expose Nigerian Government secrets the government fails to #EndSARS and #EndPoliceBrutality. They made this known through the National Broadcasting Commission twitter handle.
The group have taken over the National Broadcasting Commission twitter handle (@nbcgovng) and issued their demands. In a statement on the NBC twitter handle, they said:
“We Anonymous have taken over all NG Official Twitter Accounts to support #ENDPOLICEBRUTALITY. We are together with Nigerians. Expect the Unexpected.”
They also called on Nigerians to suggest government institutions to hack. Some commenters on the post have suggested the CBN, House of assembly, the presidency among others.
The group is known to have been responsible for similar hacking and exposures in the past to include:
The BART attack in 2011 which was a repercussion to the shutting down of cellular services to deter people from protesting against the BART police shooting an unarmed passenger in Carlifornia, USA.
In 2015, they hacked Donald Trump’s website when he threatened to ban all Muslims from entering the United States. And they also took down a website that shared ISIS propaganda resources.
Whether you are a fan of Anonymous or not, it is evident that they take the side of the people and join the struggle to liberate the poor masses and hold those in power to account. They obviously could not sit on the fence on this one. And have asked the Nigerian government to expect the unexpected.
