The Peoples Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom State has inaugurated a four-member reconciliation committee per senatorial district, for the purpose of pursuing peace and reconciliation following the just concluded party primaries for the 2020 local government election.
The reconciliation committee has the state deputy governor, His Excellency Mr. Moses Ekpo; His Excellency Idongesit Nkanga and Chief Ndueso Essien as Chairmen for Ikot Ekpene, Uyo and Eket Senatorial Districts respectively.
Addressing the committee shortly before the inauguration, the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Obong Udo Ekpenyong said the committee as constituted consist of trusted and committed members of the PDP who have made laudable investments through the years towards the growth of the PDP in Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria.
Obong Udo Ekpenyong tasked members of the committee to come up with recommendations that will contribute to the sustenance of a united front for the PDP in Akwa Ibom State as well as strengthen the cord of peaceful coexistence amongst all the strata and segments of membership within the party.
The Akwa Ibom State State PDP helmsman said “Unity has always been our way of life in the PDP here in Akwa Ibom State. This is why we feel that we must always take deliberate steps to strengthen the bond of unity that has held us together through the years. This constitution and the inauguration of this Committee is therefore our way of ensuring that no member of our Party is left behind due to any issue that may have arisen in the course of our activities, and programmes.” Obong Udo Ekpenyong explained.
Speaking shortly after the inauguration of the committee by the State PDP Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo acknowledged the thoughtful initiative of the party in the state by constituting the Committee, expressing the strong optimism that the committee’s recommendations will impact positively on the growth, successes and development of the PDP in Akwa Ibom State.
The Akwa Ibom Deputy Governor thanked the Party for the confidence reposed on the committee, stressing that the committee will endeavour to complete the assignment within the stipulated time frame.
Other stakeholders of the PDP in Akwa Ibom who were inaugurated to serve in the reconciliation committee include the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State State House of Assembly, Rt Hon, Aniekan Bassey, Senator Effiong Bob and Barr. Ime Okon for Uyo Senatorial District.
The deputy speaker, Rt. Hon. Felicia Bassey; Commissioner for works, Prof. Eno Ibanga; and Elder Ben Udobia for Eket senatorial district while Senator Emmanuel Ibok Essien; Obong Eno Akpan, ENGR. Oliver Ebong are appointed into the committee for Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.
