Man and idols what the Bible says
Do you know that all things are under the control of man? (Psalm 8:7-8). Indeed, all things are put under the subjection of man to control and use, but not to worship.
After reading these Bible passages, we ask you to answer the question that is the title of this piece: “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God. He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth” (Genesis 1:27-28)
You have made him to have dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet, all sheep and oxen — even the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea that pass through the paths of the seas” (Psalm 8:6-8)
It has been said that no person should worship and serve idols because: Idols are vanities. They are abominations to the Lord. Idols are useless. They are helpless (Adenugba, D. A. (2018). Idols: Numerous and Powerless).
The manufacturers of idols are goldsmith, silversmith, metalsmith, adept ceramic workers and blacksmith. Sculptors are employed to manufacture vanity and abomination of various sizes and shapes. “When object of use is misplaced, misinformed and misunderstood, object of use is turned to object of worship. Object of use that is made object of worship turns folks senseless, reproachful and vain. To turn object of use to object of worship is the peak of all stupidity” (Ibid). What good can you find that will make a man to worship snake or inanimate objects? None!
Animals are for man’s consumption, and not for worship. Aged farm equipment such as hoes and cutlass should be properly disposed of, so as not to injure and wound people or occupy space unnecessarily.
To optimize available space, quickly dispose of all unused objects; do not turn them to object of worship. Prophet Jeremiah warned the Jews: “Do not learn the ways of the idols that possess no power to help; do not be dismayed at the signs of heaven, for the Gentiles are dismayed at them” (Jeremiah 10:2-4).
Brethren and friends, don’t worship useless and helpless things, idols; and be not dismayed of heavenly hosts and signs. Should man worship and serve idols? NO!
