CROSIEC Announces Local Government Elections For October 2024
The Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC) has officially announced that local government elections will take place on October 26, 2024.
This announcement came during a crucial stakeholders’ meeting held on Wednesday at the CROSIEC headquarters in Calabar, aimed at paving the way for a smooth electoral process.
CROSIEC Chairman Mr. Ekong Edet Bocco addressed attendees, stressing the essence of this election for local governance. “We are committed to ensuring a transparent and credible electoral process.
The upcoming elections will be a great opportunity for community members to participate in shaping their local leadership,” he stated.
He further outlined essential dates and procedural steps that stakeholders need to follow in the lead-up to the polls.
As preparations begin, CROSIEC is urging all eligible candidates and voters to engage actively in the electoral process. “We encourage all those interested in running for office to familiarize themselves with the requirements and timelines,” Bocco added.
Community leaders are also expected to play a vital role in mobilizing voter participation as the election date approaches.

Meanwhile, the State Chairman of the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Barr. Ignatius Ikem said his party is ready for the October Local Government elections.
Ikem gave the assurance shortly after the stakeholders meeting.
