World Peace Day 2024: Christopher Maikalangu nominated for “Area Council Chairman of the Year” Award
In a recent development, Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, the Executive Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), has been massively nominated for the prestigious “Area Council Chairman of the Year” award at the 3rd National Unity Dance Festival 2024 in Commemoration of WORLD PEACE DAY.
His nomination follows a rigorous selection process and fierce competition among other Area Council Chairmen, with Hon. Maikalangu emerging as the top choice due to his remarkable achievements in AMAC and his unwavering commitment to the well-being of his community especially the YOUTH and the nation at large.
He will be receiving this honour alongside other prominent Nigerians, Diplomats, Peace Ambassadors, Academia and Entrepreneurs etc.
Widely recognized by residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as a unifier and dedicated public servant, Hon. Maikalangu has significantly improved the lives of AMAC residents through several key initiatives. His administration has focused on community development by constructing access roads, implementing rural electrification projects, and installing solar lights and boreholes in underserved communities, thereby enhancing economic and social activities in the area.
In the education and health sectors, Hon. Maikalangu has made strides in providing critical infrastructure and support to schools and healthcare facilities, boosting the quality of education and healthcare services available to residents. His proactive approach to peace and security has seen increased collaboration with local security agencies, ensuring a safer environment for all.
One of his notable achievements is securing the operational license for AMAC Radio, a platform that aims to improve communication and information dissemination within the council. His administration is also lauded for its prompt payment of salaries and strong engagement with stakeholders, promoting transparency and accountability in governance.

The National Unity Dance Festival, organized by Drum Majors for Peace in collaboration with the Department of Arts & Culture, FCTA, will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at the Cyprian Ekwensi Center for Arts & Culture, Abuja. The event, commemorating World Peace Day, will celebrate the unifying power of dance under the theme: “Dance; A Catalyst for Unity.”
