Four states converge on Akwa Ibom for RAAMP Pre-mission
All is now set for the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project, RAAMP pre-mission programme in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital.
The two-day event is scheduled for today May 20 – Tuesday 21, 2024 at the banquet hall of Watbridge Hotels and Suites, Uyo.
The event is an appraisal exercise for all RAAMP states, aimed at evaluating the current implementation status of the member states, identify gaps, consolidate on areas of strengths and explore possible solutions to challenging issues as a way forward for an all-round success of the project across the country.
Four states are expected to participate in the programme, namely: Kogi, Ebonyi, Abia and the host – Akwa Ibom.
A statement by the State Project Coordinator of RAAMP, Pastor Gideon Akpan on behalf of the Hon. Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. (Mrs.) Offiong Offor, welcomes the National Coordinator of RAAMP, Engr. Aminu Bodinga Mohammed and his team in the Federal Project Management Unit, FPMU; the joint teams of the World Bank and French Development Agency, led by Engr. Olatunji Ahmed as well as the Project Coordinators and other stakeholders from the respective participating states to Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital for the event.
The statement prayed God to grant successful deliberation to all the participants and wished all a peaceful stay throughout the session in the state.
In a related development, participants from Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Bauchi, Plateau, Kaduna, Gombe and Niger states will converge on Kano as their center for the event; while stakeholders from Ondo, Oyo, Kwara, Ekiti and Osun states will gather for the programme at Abeokuta, Ogun state.
The pre-mission exercise commenced on Monday May 05, 2024 with the evaluation of Kano and Sokoto states at the Kano center; and would be rounded off on Wednesday May 29, 2024 at Ogun state, with the appraisal of Ekiti and Osun states.
RAAMP is a five-year tenure project, jointly funded by the World Bank, French Development Agency and 19 states currently participating in the project across the country, while the Federal Government serves as guarantor to all the participant states. In Akwa Ibom, the project is domiciled in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
