Gov. Otu Appoints New CPS, others

In a move that has been praised by members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Governor Otu of Cross River State has appointed Comrade Nsa Gill as his new Chief Press Secretary (CPS).
The appointment was announced on Monday in a press release signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. A. Owan Enoh.
According to the release, the appointment takes immediate effect.
Along with Gill’s appointment, Governor Otu also approved the appointment of Sir Maurice Effiwatt as Acting Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, Mr. Linus Obogo as Special Adviser, Media & Publicity, and Mr. Emmanuel Ogbeche as Special Adviser, Media to the Governor in Abuja.
The release also confirmed Prince Edwin Okon as Chairman of the Cross River State Internal Revenue Service, and Mr. Abang Sylvester Otu as the State Chief of Protocol.
Expressing their satisfaction with Gill’s appointment, members of the NUJ commended the governor for recognizing his talent and dedication.
Comrade Mike Abang, Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Cross River State chapter, and a correspondent chapel member for Business Day newspaper, exclaimed.
“Gill’s appointment is long overdue and well deserved. We give God the Glory. It is a good thing that happened to NUJ.”
Also speaking, Comrade. Joseph Abasi-Abasi, a correspondent for Tribune, also welcomed the appointment, stating that,
“It beholds the Governor to look into the NUJ as the synergy between the media and the government. It is a welcome development, and we all applaud it. I can see the Governor fitting square pegs in square holes.”
Under Gill’s leadership, it is expected that the communication channels between the government and the media will be further strengthened, leading to a more transparent and accountable administration.
The announcement also included the immediate suspension of Mr. Uko Inaku as Chairt.
