Ukana West Clan Honours Poly Rector with an Award of Excellence
The Ukana West Clan Council has described the Rector Federal Polytechnic Ukana, Dr. Uduak Sunday Ukekpe as God’s sent to the institution and has conferred on him an award of excellence for his outstanding developmental strides and sustained peace in the institution.
The Clan Head of Ukana West, Okuku Sylvanus Udoekanem who led the delegation, made this statement during a thank you visit to the Rector at the 250 Capacity Lecture Theatre at the Main Campus of the Polytechnic.
Okuku Udoekanem, extolled the Rector for his results-oriented leadership style and stated that the visit was solely to thank the Rector whose tenure is set to elapse in the coming days for utilizing his opportunity as Rector and his God’s given talent to transform the Polytechnic.
In his words “we are glad that you have used your God’s given talent to transform a grazing land into an academic citadel of learning that can compete with other institutions in Nigeria and our visit today is a demonstration of our gratitude and we say may God bless you”.
According to him, every son and daughter of Ukana West Clan is proud of how Dr. Ukekpe and his management team have been able to improve the image of the institution through the construction of state of the art infrastructures, promotion of academic excellence and sustained peace on campus during his time as Rector and they are convinced that he has set a positive standard and pace for his successor to follow .
He also stated that it is the collective wish of the Ukana West Council to honour the performing Rector with an Award of Excellence for his brilliant performance in Federal Polytechnic, Ukana which will be accompanied by a prestigious traditional title as the OTUEKONG of Ukana West Clan.
Responding, Dr. Ukekpe commended the Ukana West Clan for their visit and thanked them for finding him worthy of an Award of Excellence and the title conferred on him.
He also commended them for their unwavering support and solicited that they should continue to remember the institution in their prayers as always.
He attributed all the success recorded in the Polytechnic to God Almighty as well as the cooperation of his management team.
He also mentioned that his desire to give back to Ukana for the hospitality he received during his Primary and Secondary School days at Methodist Primary School and Independence High School respectively, both in Ukana, spur him to do great things.
He urged the Ukana West Clan to continue to support the next Management after him, so that with their support and cooperation, greater achievements can be recorded in the Polytechnic.
In a vote of thanks, the Registrar, Dr. Okon J. Ekanem, thanked the Ukana West Clan for their unwavering support to the institution.
He extol the Rector for his clear cut vision which has birthed the level of success that is being celebrated today.
Highlights of the ceremony were prayers by the Ukana West Clan for the Rector and management of the Polytechnic as well as the presentation of the Award of Excellence and the conferment of the prestigious traditional title as the OTUEKONG of Ukana West Clan on the Rector by the Clan Head of Ukana West, Okuku Sylvanus Obot Udoekanem.
