Education: Councillor donates “Back to School Essentials” to school children
The Leader, Ikot Ekpene Legislative Council and Councillor representing Ward 10, Hon. Lawrence Inyang has donated some Back to School Essentials like school bags, dozens of books , stationeries to pupils of Methodist Primary School, Mbiaso and Migrant Farmers School, Adatatak.
According to the Councillor, the donation was his own way of identifying with families in this difficult economic period and empowering the Nigerian child from an early stage.
In his words ” The Back to School Essentials for pupils in rural communities is my way of identifying with their families in these very challenging economic period. Education is the surest way of securing these children’s future and so I decided to contribute to gifting them a practical way of breaking out of the cycle of poverty and despair that they have come to know” he maintained.
He stressed that the kind gestures he has put forward is not only out of his benevolence but also a part of his representative function, while thanking all his friends who identified with the project and contributed to it’s success.
Hon. Inyang, made sure that in his “Back to School Essential ” programme which is targeted at ensuring the pupils wellbeing, that 47 Pupils received new school bags, 1 dozen of exercise books each and stationeries like pen, pencils , erasers.
The Ikot Ekpene Legislative Council Leader,Hon. Inyang ensured that parents and wards of these children were not left out as he gave out some financial support to them.
Speaking shortly after the presentation,the Chairman of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR)Akwa Ibom State Chapter, Mr. Manasseh Umoette, extolled the Councillor for deeming it fit to assist parents financially in these challenging times .
He commended Lawrence Inyang for the kind gesture and stressed that the financial assistance to parents will help reduce the high rate of out of school children in the communities.
He urged pupils to take their education seriously, emphasizing that education was the only way the young could secure their own future and become great men and women who will in turn help others tomorrow.
