Asikpo charges students to secure future through education
A foremost educationist in the state ObongIfiok Dr. Anny Asikpo has charged students to take their studies seriously as a sure way to secure their future .
Dr. Asikpo made the charge while giving a keynote address during the closing ceremony of the maiden free holiday lessons organized by Atai Essien Uruk Uso Youth Forum, in Uruk Uso Village, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State.
According to Dr. Asikpo, studying hard will help Students develop quickly in thier academic pursuit. It will make them intelligent and gives confidence which will lead to good performance in thier examinations and every sphere of thier lives.
Dr. Asikpo who commended the vision and thoughtfulness of the youths in putting together the holiday lessons to engage students donated N1.5 million naira worth of text books in various subject areas to participating students as his contribution to the programme.
Earlier, the Chairman on the occasion, Obong Emmanuel Umoette, the Esang Ubong Ikot Ekpene represented by Hon Jeremiah Umoette esq lauded the initiative of the youths describing it as one of its kind timely. He tasked the participating students to make good use of all they have benefitted from the holiday lessons to build their future.
Responding, the president of Atai Essien Youth Forum, Deacon Ndueso Uwemedimo Akpan, appreciated Dr. Asikpo for his kind gesture and prayed God to bless him richly.
He expressed his joy and gave gratitude to God almighty for making the first free holiday lessons organized by the youth of Atai Essien, Uruk Uso Village, a huge success and hopes to achieve more feats by Gods grace.
He expressed his optimism to host the free holiday next summer and called for supoort of the entire Uruk Uso village to help in the actualization of some of his set goals which he highlighted during his welcome address.
The highpoint of the event was the presentation of awards to deserving personalities and presentation of books and gifts to students.
Among those who received the awards were ObongIfiok Anny Asikpo- immediate past Honorary Special Adviser to Governor Udom Emmanuel,Obong Emmanuel Umoette, Etubom Usen Sam Akpanama, Hon Jeremiah Umoette, Obong Matthew Akpan, Elder Manasseh Umoette – Public Relations Officer, Federal Polytechnic Ukana among others.
