AKSG to revoke undeveloped lands at Dakkada Luxury Estate
The State Government has given a marching order to the Ministry of Lands and Water Resources to revoke all unoccupied and undeveloped plots at the Dakada Luxury Estate.
The honourable Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, Capt. Iniobong Ekong made this known during a media parley recently.
He said, in sharing the aspiration, idea, vision of the government, his Ministry is keen about the responsibility in Land and Town planning.
The Commissioner highlighted that “there is a speculated period given to individuals to develop their plots, if not the government is at the liberty to repossess the land and give whoever is ready to develop the land for the benefit and for revenue generating profile of the state.
“Unfortunately, quite a lot of investable lands and properties have been taken by politicians and privileged people in the society. Just to hold it to their own without the necessary benefits reaping to the generality of the people,” he noted.
Ekong maintained that government is ready to improve the livelihood for its people by way of security, provision of basic facilities and amenities, job opportunities and enhancement within the estate.
According to him, “I am well prepared to function effectively as the Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources and for the 7.2 million people of Akwa Ibom State.
He sought the cooperation and advice from journalists to enable them translate the Arise Agenda mantra of the State Government to enhance welfare, sustainability and promotion of livelihoods of Akwa Ibom people.
The Lands and Water Resources Boss further explained that he is going to improve on structures seen on ground in the estate, and will also introduce new structures to fall in line with the international best practices to compete with other state of the federation and other parts of the world.
He said the Ministry is key in holding and translating government oath on Lands which is a factor of production and development for the wellbeing of Akwa Ibom people to attract investors for generation of revenue, giving the people a peaceful and organised environment to live and do business.
