2023: Why Ibeno will vote PDP, Umo Eno- stalwart
As the 2023 general elections draw closer, Elder Ikoedem Ekong, Coordinator of MPM Wards Coordinators Forum in Ibeno local government area of Akwa Ibom State has said people of the local government area are fully prepared to give 100 percent of its vote to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Elder Ekong said this on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, when he was guest on Peace Voice, a Maintain Peace Movement MPM sponsored radio programme on Inspiration fm, Uyo.
“From 1999, Ibeno has always followed one way and that way is PDP. From then, Ibeno has always been 100 percent PDP and nothing will change now. Check history and you will see that Ibeno is one local government area that gives 100 percent votes to PDP.
“The people of Ibeno have seen the dividends of democracy in Ibeno. The present administration has given us a dualised road from Eket to QIT and passes through Upenekang so we are happy about that,” he said.
He lauded the rural development component of Pastor Eno’s ARISE Agenda, saying that he was optimistic that the governorship hopeful will open up the area by way of building more roads and other infrastructure.
Ekong who is also Secretary of Upenekang Town Council in Ibeno Local Government Area expressed, further expressed optimism that Pastor Umo Eno will support the fishing communities with start up capitals and fishing equipments to boost that industry in the area if he becomes governor in 2023.
Elder Ekong who said he has worked with Pastor Eno for over a decade, described the gubernatorial candidate as God fearing, peace loving, kind hearted, intelligent, creative, a grassrooter and one who is passionate about leadership.
“When he was doing his catering contract with ExxonMobil, I was working with him for 12 years as his community interface coordinator. I know he is a man of God and whatever he says, he always does it. He has been taking care of the youths of Ibeno. He used to pay a courtesy call on the Paramount Ruler of Ibeno yearly. He is a good man,” he concluded.
