Ibaha Siba Voice Challenge: cleric expresses worry over gospel artist extinction
The Pastor of Gospel Foundation Mission Church, Pastor Prince George yesterday expressed worry over a situation which gospel artists who were trained from Christian backgrounds instead of using the talent to praise God moves to sing reggae, and hip-hop to earn a living because of lack of encouragement in the Christendom.
Addressing journalists during a Press briefing organized by the Church in Uyo, the pastor said musicians like Timaya started their musical carrier from the church but finally end up as hip-hop musicians because of lack of encouragement to sing to the glory of God and earn a living.
He called on two hundred contestants to pick up forms and contest for Ibaha Siba voice challenge coming up by second week of December as five winners will smile home with half a million naira cash each of them to start up their musical career with.
According to him the motive behind the financial empowerment to the winners only is to select the best and encourage in the gospel music industry to the glory of God during the Anual ‘Ibaha siba gospel campaign’
“”It is my privilege to give young men a platform through this empowerment, every year we spend millions of naira to hire performing gospel artist to perform at our event so this year we choose to convert the money and empower upcoming artist instead of taking the money to those that are already established”, he said.
