Disruption of zoning: Effiong Bob puts records straight
A PDP chieftain in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, Senator Effiong Bob has expressed dismay that he has been accused of disrupting zoning arrangements in area in a decision that was unanimously taken by PDP elders in the area.
In a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Anietie Akpan, entitled “RE: DISRUPTION OF THE ZONING ARRANGEMENT IN NSIT UBIUM BY SENATOR EFFIONG BOB CONTRARY TO HIS EXCELLENCY (sic) STANDS (sic) ON ZONING ARRANGEMENT: AN APPEAL FOR A REDRESS BY THE Governor”, Senator Effiong Bob frowned at “a situation where responsible people will take a collective decision and thereafter some self seeking individuals who participated in the decision making process go out to attribute the decision to a single individual.”
“It would be recalled that on Monday August 3, 2020, the stakeholders of Nsit Ubium at their enlarged Caucus meeting, received a message from the party that in view of the reappointment of the Commissioner from Ubium South, the chairmanship position should move to Nsit for the sake of equity, political inclusiveness and peaceful coexistence.
“After deliberating extensively on the distribution of political offices in the area, Caucus unanimously decided that the chairmanship position of the local government council be zoned to Nsit axis of the local government area.
” Senator Bob wishes to state categorically that the decision was unanimous. He adds that it was on the strength of this that Caucus expressed gratitude to the Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, for reappointing Arc Ime Ekpo, an Ubium South person, into the State Executive Council and based on this, Caucus congratulated Arc Ime Ekpo on his reappointment.
“On the insinuation that there was a walk out by some people on the Caucus, Senator Bob wishes to say that nothing could be farther from the truth as all Caucus members left only after the end of the meeting and decisions duly taken.
.
” He wonders why supposedly responsible people could go ahead to forge signatures of people in order to advance their ignoble act and notes that about half of the signatories to the unfortunate write-up have gone online to dissociate themselves from the publication.
“Senator Effiong Bob takes serious exception to the allegation against him and wonders why when people fail in their leadership responsibilities, they blame their failures on him.
” He calls on the good people of Nsit Ubium local government area to disregard the antics of such people but to continue to support reasonable members of the Caucus in their efforts to bring some form of decency, sanity, fair play and inclusiveness into the politics of the area noting that this has been the overriding concern of the leadership of Nsit Ubium political class over the years and warned against the disruption of this practice by a few selfish individuals, ” the statement read.
